Members of the ‘Sherfield English School Trust’ visited the Bowls Club to officially open the new patio area, afternoon of 12th August 2026.A grant, kindly donated by the Trustees, enabled the canopy to be built. The event was well attended with over 20 members enjoying the refreshments provided.
As Chair, Roy welcomed the Trustees on behalf of the members and thanked everyone for attending. Reverend James gave an entertaining speech, with references to his earlier profession of Chartered Engineer and the integrity of the Canopy. He thanked the team of Bill, Martyn and Bill who completed the construction. James gave a special mention to Roy and his array of skills from measuring to welding
“…if you get those two things right, there is the difference between a canopy and pile of metal.” Before declaring the patio officially open, James reminded the members
“it will shield you from the elements while you complain about your biases and weight!”
This was taken in good humour by the members!
Many thanks for the Trustees attending, Jenny M for baking a variety of delicious cakes and Darryl for preparing the tea
