Covid Update

Unfortunately the Children's Gardening Club will not be running for the 2020 season

As we come towards the end of another football season we would like to say a massive congratulations to Sherfield FC on their fantastic win in the final of the Junior League Cup Final! Within 3 seasons they have earned 2 promotions and 2 cup final wins. That’s some achievement!. They have also gained promotion to the Southampton prem. The next step is Hampshire, and that is a HUGE step for a young team playing on a little field in Sherfield! A superb effort by players, coaches and management. All the teams - men’s 1st, reserves and the women’s team have played so well and we thank them for their patience with the drainage works. We can look forward to the coming season without the water-logging issues and a more reliable home pitch.

News from the Pavilion. After a few last minute scheduling hitches were resolved cricket will start at the beginning of June on the SERP field for the first time in many years. We’re very much looking forward to the return of a quintessential part of English village life and we see this as a very welcome addition to the netball, bowls and football we already host. Why not pop along on Saturday afternoons in the summer and enjoy the sound of leather on willow. Remember the date - 15th August for SherFest! The band line up is looking better than ever and we’re checking out a few options for the remaining few slots. If you’re part of a group or know of one who may be interested then now could be your last chance to get on the line up! Get in touch quickly or you’ll have to wait for ‘27! We’ve also got some super new ideas for food and drink and can’t wait to see you all there for fantastic day of music, feasting and fun for all the family.

*** STOP PRESS*** Some of the SERP Committee and friends are proposing to run the first Sherfield English popup pub very soon! 12th June is proposed as the date, keep an eye on Facebook for further details but we’d love to see you there and it’s important for the community to show that Sherfield still needs a pub! See you soon at the Sports ground. Jerome Chair SERP2000

News Hello from us all at the Pavilion. We would like to wish everybody a very happy May Day. Now the days are lengthening, and the weather is brightening and warming our thoughts, turn to more joyful things after the grey and rainy months of winter. Our football teams are having a fabulous season. The Sherfield English Women’s team have finished third in the Junior Plate competition, which is an amazing result for such a young team. Congratulations, ladies, you’ve been fabulous! The men’s first team are through to the Junior League Cup Final on Thursday 14th May. They would love your support, and it’s a great occasion to watch some superb football. See you there! With this better weather the netball players are now playing more regularly with fewer evenings rained off and Helen and the girls will make you very welcome. Fun and exercise together! The Sherfield English Bowls Club have been working hard getting the green in tiptop condition, and I believe play is now open. They are a lovely bunch and always welcome new faces either to become serious competition players or beginners wishing to learn and enjoy the social side. Contact on following page. NEWS FROM THE PAVILION With the first phase heavy weight drainage works now completed we are working busily to reinstate the pitch and anyone wishing to help rake the topsoil level just give us a shout. Excellent for the waistline! We should soon be hearing the sound of leather on willow with Whiteparish cricket club playing on Saturday afternoons through the cricket season. All are welcome to cheer them on.
