Finals Day 2026 at Sherfield English Bowls Club
A day of drama with twists and turns, ups and downs and a touch of nerves brought to an end Competitions for 2026. Spectators were treated to superb bowling right up to the final wood on the final end of the final match.
Mixed Triples: Gillian, playing through the pain barrier with an injured shoulder on her bowling arm, certainly played her part as lead, gaining early points for her team. However, they stalled halfway through the match and were unable to chase down the opposition.
Mixed Triples Final Result:Tim, Carol, Martyn 19 - 8 Colin, Gillian, Terry
Mixed Pairs: A nerve-wracking match with Glenn and Lynda taking an early lead. Cathy and Terry made a solid comeback in the second half of the match but were unable to overcome a pair on top of their form.

Lynda & Glenn 19 - 15 Cathy & Terry
Ladies Singles: Having rested the shoulder, Gillian played once more through the pain. Janice took an early lead but as the match progressed, Gillian stayed in touch and scores were level with one end to go. Nail-biting stuff!

Janice 14 - 13 Gillian
Men’s Singles: A tactical match with both players keeping to their plan. The lead changed hands until Terry took a firm hold with 5 ends left. Bernie managed to stay in touch and on the final end needed 2 to ensure a playoff. A long jack was delivered and Bernie was holding 4 to win the match, the final wood to be bowled by Terry……
