Our August “Hymns and Pimms” service led by Rev SaraJane Stevens involved such enthusiasm that I thought the church itself would start to boogie. The hymn “Seek Ye First” first was sung as a round with Clare and Caroline each leading one half of the congregation and, after a bit of an explanation on what we were going to actually sing, the volume produced was super-sized, almost deafening! We sung 8 familiar hymns with short anecdotes by those who had chosen them, the choir performed a hymn called “We need each other’s voices” and Ceri, our organist, played a delightful instrumental piece which her late father had written, a clever man! It was a varied programme and everyone was in top voice and Sara-Jane kept us all under control, just! We had two congregation grandsons help with the collection. So much music and celebration that we definitely needed the Pimms! A lovely morning all in all. Next month brings our Harvest Festival service on Sunday 20th September at 11am with the traditional harvest hymns, thoughts and prayers for farmers coping with a very difficult year. We continue to celebrate Harvest after the service when for £5 we can enjoy a Ploughmans Lunch followed by an apple sweet. If you would like to join us then do let Clare or I know and you would be very welcome. Julia Noble, Churchwarden
